My Presentation on Local Food Law at Pace Law School

by Cari Rincker on Mar.14, 2013, under Food & Ag Law

I gave the below presentation at Pace Law School last night.  It was great being back at my alma mater.  The recording is available for purchase from Pace Law School’s CLE program.  Jason Foscolo handled the first part of the presentation speaking on direct marketing, food labeling, the Food Safety Modernization Act and raw milk.  I touch upon several other areas affecting the local food movement including cottage food operation law (or home processed food), on farm poultry slaughter regulations (including Article 5-A licenses), land use and zoning regulations including urban agriculture and the Right-to-Farm law, “compensated” volunteer farm labor, and a few miscellaneous topics including estate and succession planning for farms, farm leases, and food safety. I end my presentation with a few practical pointers for attorneys and law students who would like to start their own food and agriculture law practice. Enjoy!
