Animal Law News

I was reviewing the November Update from the New York State Bar Association (“NYSBA”) Committee on Animals and the Law today and thought there were a few posts that I wanted to mention.

1.  This article illustrates some cases in New York that would fall under felony animal cruelty (a.k.a. “Buster’s Law”).

2.  Though I do not recommend that people use online forms for legal documents without consulting an attorney, LegalZoom now offers a Pet Protection Agreement with the Last Will and Testament. I do some estate planning myself and am implementing questions about companion animals on my estate planning questionnaire.

3.  The Utah State Law Library posted information regarding Nolo’s legal guide for dog owners.  I am currently working on some dog law articles for dog owners in both urban and rural areas.

This is a picture of my golden retriever, Taylor, who I love dearly.  She’s at home in Illinois right now enjoying being a cow dog.  She can play basketball with the best of them.
