Happy Columbus Day! Rincker Law, PLLC is the proud business sponsor of the New York Agri-Women event in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. The day is bookended with tours of two prominent rooftop farms in New York City including Brooklyn Grange and Eagle Street Farm. The group will also tour Anarchy in a Jar’s Jam Facility in Brooklyn.
The conference itself will take place at the Greenpoint Gallery (so cool… I always feel a little trendier hanging out in Brooklyn). The conference will lead-off with a keynote from Cheryl Rogowski from W. Rogowski Farm and a presentation by Bob Lewis from the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets. Diana Colon from the NYS Unified Court System will also present on the New York State Agriculture Mediation Program (“NYSAMP”).
After a farm-to-table lunch, there will be three panels discussing community food education activities, value-added food products, and trends with community supported agriculture. Some featured panelists include: Cathy Erway, author of “Not Eating Out in New York,” Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht of Garden of Eve, Bee Ayer of BK Farmyards, Sharon Kimmelman of WestSide Community Garden, Jane Hodge of NYC Farm School at Just Food, Robin Burger of Hot Bread Kitchen, Laena McArthy of Anarchy in a Jar, Kerri-Ann Lynch of Right from the Hive, Beth Linskey of Beth’s Farm Kitchen, Paula Lukats from Just Food and John Ameroso from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Kings County. Claire Hartten and Christine Rico from Green Rabbits are also noted moderators.
Big thanks to Shari’s Signature Events for helping with the details. Registration before October 15th is encouraged.
