As I noted in this post, I have been participating in the New York Peace Institute’s Community Mediation Apprenticeship Program. I started my journey in December 2011 by completing the 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training. I then started the 13 – week classroom portion of the apprenticeship in January 2012. New York Peace Institute has strict standards for its apprenticeship program requiring a certain number of two party mediations and passing a video test. I’m happy to announce that I have completed the apprenticeship program. Along the way, I completed a 16-Hour Divorce Mediation Training and 16-Hour Child Custody and Visitation Mediation Training. I will continue to be a volunteer mediator with New York Peace Institute (the Community Dispute Resolution Center in Manhattan and Brooklyn) in addition to my private mediation practice.
I will be doing a mock divorce mediation for my BNI Chapter that meets in Midtown Manhattan on March 12, 2013. Email me if you are interested in attending and learning more about the divorce mediation process.
