Some Other Professionals That You Might Consider For Your Divorce

Rincker Law January 28, 2014Family/Matrimonial Law

man woman hands holding broken heartBesides a qualified matrimonial attorney and/or mediator (like yours truly), here are a few other types of professionals that you might want to consider hiring to help you through your divorce process:

1.  Divorce Coaches – “Coaching” seems to be very hot right now.  There seems to be a coach for everything these days – health coach, business coach, life coach, and yes, even a divorce coach.  Divorce coaches vary in their roles.  For some, I think a divorce coach offers invaluable guidance to help someone through the divorce process.

2.  Therapists/ Licensed Clinical Social Worker – I think that everyone going through a divorce could benefit from psychotherapy.  It’s a challenging chapter in the life of anyone going through a divorce.

3.  Professional Organizers – As I noted in this post, being organized can save you money in your divorce action.   It can also help with the transition process and “fresh start” to a new beginning.

4.  Private Investigators – Depending on the situation, private investigators can be used to collect information for your divorce action.  I suggest talking to your matrimonial attorney before hiring one.

5.  Financial Planners & CPA – Finances play a big role in most divorces.  Some financial advisers and accountants can counsel parties to a divorce on the tax and financial implications of taking settlement A vs. settlement B.  Talk to your matrimonial lawyer for recommendations.

I’m sure I missed a few!  Divorces can be a stressful time of transition but on the other side there is a door of opportunity for a new beginning.  I highly encourage my readers to talk to a matrimonial lawyer they trust.  I am licensed in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
