Giving New Life to the Term “Spring Cleaning” – Does Your Farm or AgriBusiness Have a Scanner?

I have to give a shout-out to a small little machine that has made a big difference to my life and law practice — the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M.  In preparation of my move to my new office space at 535 Fifth Avenue, I spent the weekend scanning files and documents.  I purchased this Bad Boy a few months ago and I must say that I endorse it.   I cannot help but wonder how it may be useful for farms and agribusinesses.

1.  Articles of Interest.  As I noted in this previous post, I keep a blog fodder file on my desk.  However, it has become quite large because I subscribe to several legal and agricultural publications.  I’ve decided to move my blog/article fodder file electronically to my computer.  Afterall, I live in Manhattan so space is limited.  And doing so was quite cathartic.  Perhaps you are an article hoarder like me collecting articles that are useful for your own blog, farm or agri-business.  If so, I suggest keeping those articles in scanned form.

2. Farm/Business Records. There are some real benefits to having electronic copies of your business records, including receipts, handwritten notes, registration papers, and invoices.  I think it makes smart business-sense to archive an electronic copy of your business records.  It’s especially useful to scan hard copies of records that are not easily accessible.  Furthermore, wouldn’t it be handy to be able to have this information available on a handheld device such as an iPhone or iPad?

As an aside, Rincker Law, PLLC welcomes agriculture publications.  If I find an article of interest, I may mention it on this blog.  If you would like to send Rincker Law, PLLC a complementary copy, please mail to Rincker Law, PLLC, c/o Cari Rincker, 535 Fifth Avenue, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
