Question:  The Mother of our child refuses to put my name on the birth certificate.  Can she be forced to do this in Illinois?

It is imperative that the father obtain a judgment of parentage.  Rincker Law, PLLC can help you with that process.  Once you have this judgment, you will not need the mother’s consent or approval to change the birth certificate.  There is a process we will assist you with to make sure the court receives the affidavit necessary to change the birth certificate with all of the accompanying information that is required.  The court charges a is a $15 fee for this process. The mother cannot object to this so there is no need to worry about the mother’s interference.
