Len Irish took this photo last year at Hudson Pines Farm near Tarrytown, NY. This picture cracks me up a bit-- no other time in my life have I sat on the wheel of a hay wagen cheesing for the camera. It's also fun and shows my cowgirl side (not to mention that I look a little "Chair-like" don't ya think?)
For the second year in a row, I have been appointed as the Chair of the American Bar Association’s (“ABA”) General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Division’s Agriculture Law Committee for the 2012-2013 year. It has been an exciting first year getting the Committee up and going again with two fantastic Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) webinars on crop/livestock insurance and the local food movement. During the last month, I have working hard on getting the subcommittees up and going. Stay tuned for more information on the subcommittees (and the various Google Groups) and CLE’s.
If you are a law student or lawyer interested in practicing food or agriculture law, please consider joining the committee. As a solo practitioner, I know from first-hand experience the importance of having professional relationships with other attorneys with a similar practice area. I certainly hope that the Agriculture Law Committee can help foster that community while giving folks the educational tools necessary to be a proficient agriculture lawyer in his/her community.
