Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Agriculture and Business Law Associate Attorney to join our fast-paced team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in agricultural law and experience in farm estate and succession planning, business planning and formation, trademark management, renewable energy leases (solar and wind), and commercial real estate involving farms. The role will also involve handling various other agricultural law matters, such as negotiating farm leases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on agricultural law issues, including farm estate and succession planning.
  • Advise clients on business formation, structure, and governance, including managing trademarks and intellectual property.
  • Handle renewable energy lease negotiations and agreements, including solar and wind leases.
  • Assist with commercial real estate transactions involving farms.
  • Negotiate and draft farm leases and other relevant agricultural agreements.
  • Work closely with clients to create and implement comprehensive business plans.
  • Manage a diverse caseload while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law (Illinois Bar license preferred but not required).
  • Strong background or interest in agricultural law and related legal matters.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • May work in person at our Shelbyville or Champaign office, with hybrid/remote work options available for candidates with an appropriate home office setup.

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
