I took this photograph at one of the "Weigh Days" during my masters research at the (old) University of Illinois Beef Farm.

I had a great time this morning presenting an overview of New York equine law to Prof. Sheila Marshman’s Equine Law at Morrisville State College via Skype.  I gave an overview of our legal system and explained how laws were made.

I also gave an overview of livestock animal cruelty law, tort law (including nuisance, horseback rider’s release of liability, and equine liability laws in other states), contract law (including embryo transfer contracts) and lien law (including a lien on mare or foal, stableman’s lien, and mechanic’s lien).  I also gave the class information on laws pertaining to horse slaughter.

I enjoyed visiting Morrisville State College last winter for the First Annual New York Agri-Women Annual Meeting.  I am very impressed by the school’s agriculture program (I’m also a “fan” on Facebook).

You can find me on Skype at Cari.Rincker.  If I’m away from my computer, it will transfer to my cellular phone.
