Food Seminars International (“FSI”) will be having a 90 min. food law webinar on September 5, 2012 at 2pm ET on Genetically Engineered (“GE”) Animals. Dr. Alison L. Van Eenennaam from UC Davis will be presenting on the following issues:

(1) Current status of research and development in GE animals;

(2)  Regulation of GE animals in the United States (including the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act and National Environmental Policy Act);

– Case study: AquAdvantage salmon

–  Food safety

– Environmental safety

(3) Implications for geographic location of future investment and adoption of this technology;

(4) Labeling of food from GM animals;

(5) FDA position on food labeling;

(6) Process versus product based labeling;

(7)  Mandatory versus voluntary labeling;

(8)  Arguments for and against mandatory GE labeling; and,

(9)  The California GE food labeling initiative (Proposition 37).
